TIPRA motha supremo meets CM; Non-political meeting raises speculation

Agartala, Oct 05 (FD) In a surprising turn of events, the leader of 'Tipra Motha,' Pradyot Kishore, held a late-night meeting at Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha's residence. While the details of their discussion remain shrouded in mystery, Kishore addressed the media upon leaving the meeting, emphasizing its "non-political" nature.
Pradyot Kishore stated that the meeting revolved around the financial challenges faced by the Autonomous District Council (ADC). He sought the Chief Minister's intervention to allocate the pending funds to the autonomous body. He asserted that all political matters would be discussed in Delhi, not in Tripura.
However, inside sources from the 'Tipra Motha' party hinted at a different agenda. The party is reportedly deliberating its strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Tripura's two seats. There is a divide within the party regarding whether to align with a major national party or contest independently. This decision hinges on the support and actions of the central government.
The final verdict on this crucial matter is expected to take shape by December. If 'Tipra Motha' decides to contest both Lok Sabha seats separately, it could potentially impact the political landscape, with implications for the ruling BJP due to its support base among non-tribal and some tribal voters.
