Agartala, Oct 4 (FD) The Tipra Motha Party has projected a strong performance in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Village Committee elections, claiming that it could win between 470 and 500 of the total 587 Village Committees when votes are counted on October 5.
Senior Tipra Motha leaders, legislators and representatives of the TTAADC held a review meeting in Agartala on Saturday to assess the party’s position after polling and discuss preparations for the counting process. The meeting was attended by Tipra Motha senior leader and Minister of State Brishaketu Debbarma, TTAADC Chief Executive Member Runiel Debbarma, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Executive Member C.K. Jamatia and several MDCs.
Speaking after the meeting, Brishaketu Debbarma said the party’s internal assessment indicated that Tipra Motha could secure around 80–90 per cent of the Village Committees. He said the projection was based on feedback received from different areas and was not based solely on constituency-wise calculations.
According to the figures cited by the party, 1,561 Tipra Motha candidates were elected unopposed before polling. Voting was conducted for the remaining 2,950 seats across the 587 Village Committees.
The elections cover a total of 4,597 seats under the TTAADC, with counting scheduled to take place on October 5. Tipra Motha leaders said the party would closely monitor the counting process and ensure that its representatives remain present at the counting centres.
The party also indicated that its projected tally could cross 500 Village Committees when results involving its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners are considered. However, these figures are based on the party’s own assessment and do not represent the official election results.
During the review meeting, leaders also discussed arrangements for maintaining order during the counting process. They said party representatives would remain alert at counting centres and monitor the process closely.
The Tipra Motha leadership also raised issues related to the electoral process and developments concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The party said it would continue to monitor the implementation of SIR-related measures in Tripura and discuss concerns affecting voters and the indigenous population.
With counting scheduled for October 5, attention is now focused on the official results of the TTAADC Village Committee elections. The final number of Village Committees won by Tipra Motha and other parties will be known only after the counting process is completed. FD JK
