Tipra Motha attackers would face serious consequence if they attack BJP leaders: Spokesperson

Agartala, Nov 14 (FD) The ruling BJP in Tripura has taken serious exception to the attack on ST Morcha national president Samir Oraon at Barmura on Saturday evening and said that they attackers have to face dire consequences if they tried to repeat such heinous works in future.
A group of BJP leaders including Oraon, Bikas Debbarma, MDC Bidyut Debbarma, Patiram Tripura and others were returning to Agartala from a party programme in Kanchanmpur on Saturday last when a few workers of Tipra Motha on their way to returning home from a rally here allegedly attacked them.
The security personnel (PSO) accompanying the leaders had opened fire in the air to save the BJP leaders.
“It was our good luck that we had a narrow escape. A Bolero vehicle was vandalized. The PSOs had to open fire in the air to save our lives,” Oraon told reporters.
Subrata Chakraborty, the BJP spokesperson told reporters that police opened fire in the air to disperse the attackers and a time may come when police have to open fire on the target to save the lives of the leaders.
However, Tipra Motha supporters also came under attack at Barmura ONGC plant area.
Several vehicles carrying home-bound Tipra Moth supporters had came under brick bating by a group of mischief maker, which resulted in injury of three persons.
The Tipra Motha workers present at the scene also blocked the road in protest against the incident. Later police managed to free off the road through negotiations.
