TIPRA Motha and CPI-M inching for a seat sharing: Jiten

Agartala, Jan 31 (FD) When the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress- CPI(M) alliance were vying with each other to woo TIPRA Motha, led by a scion of the Tripura royal family into an electoral understanding, it seems the last laugh is waiting for the Marxists.
Both the opposition camps were making a tug of war as the tribal party’s votes will be crucial in determining who will rule Tripura in next month’s election.
It appears that an understanding between the ‘Tipra Motha’ and the CPI (M) is in the offing as evident from a social media post today made by the state CPI (M) state secretary Jiten Chowdhury and observations made by him in a public meeting Chowdhury in a public meeting at Sabroom in South Tripura district said that Tipra Motha has not put up a candidate against him in view of his status as a leading light of politics in the state.
His reaction came after a social media post by Pradyot Kishore Debbarma that he had told a many curious party men that his party could not put up a candidate against tribal stalwart Jiten Chowdhury in larger interest.
Immediately Chowdhury contacted the royal scion Pradyot Kishore and greeted him and said that since BJP is the common enemy of both the parties he should also consider reaching an understanding with CPI (M) in the remaining seats through discussion.
“I have told him that when the BJP is the common enemy we should discuss a seat sharing in the remaining seats also; honorable Pradyot Kishore has assured me that he will do so over the next two days so that strong candidates of each party remain in the contest and weaker ones withdraw by the end of February 2, the last day of withdrawal of candidates; now we can look forward to the discussion” Chowdhury said in the gathering.
However, no reaction was available from TIPRA Motha, nor the royal scion made any face book post.
Now it remains to be seen if the seat sharing is really implemented or remains as a hoax. FD JK
