Agartala, June 30 (FD) Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy has directed officials and elected public representatives to ensure that the benefits of various central and state government welfare schemes reach every eligible citizen without delay. The minister made the appeal while addressing a review meeting of the West Tripura Zila Parishad held at the State Guest House on Monday.
The review meeting focused on assessing the implementation of decisions taken during the previous general meeting of the Zila Parishad. Representatives from various government departments presented reports on the progress of ongoing development projects and highlighted issues requiring administrative attention. Members of the Zila Parishad and officials also shared their observations and recommendations to improve the execution of welfare programmes.
During the meeting, Minister Tinku Roy closely reviewed the status of several ongoing projects and sought updates on their implementation. He instructed departmental officials to speed up developmental activities and ensure that public welfare schemes are implemented efficiently, particularly in rural areas. Stressing transparency and accountability, the minister advised departments to resolve pending issues promptly so that beneficiaries receive government assistance without unnecessary delays.
Special emphasis was placed on education and women’s empowerment initiatives. Officials from the Education Department informed the meeting that Balika Manchas have already been established in several schools across the district. The minister directed authorities to ensure that similar platforms are formed in all remaining schools at the earliest. He also appreciated the ongoing self-defense training programme for girl students and urged officials to extend the initiative to cover every eligible student across educational institutions.
The review meeting also discussed the implementation of important social welfare schemes, including the Balika Samriddhi Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, aimed at supporting the welfare and empowerment of girls and women. In addition, the meeting reviewed programmes related to the welfare of Divyangjan, agriculture, power supply, Public Works Department (PWD), rural development, healthcare services, and drinking water facilities.
Among those present at the meeting were acting Sabhadhipati of the West Tripura Zila Parishad Biswajit Shil, MLAs Gopal Chandra Roy, Meena Rani Sarkar, and Antara Sarkar Deb, Social Welfare and Social Education Department Secretary Tapan Kumar Das, chairpersons of various Panchayat Samitis, Zila Parishad members, and senior officials from different government departments. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening coordination among departments to ensure effective implementation of welfare programmes and accelerate inclusive development across West Tripura.
