Agartala, May 2 (FD) Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday stressed that the timely completion of welfare-oriented projects and maintaining quality standards are crucial to strengthening administrative accountability toward citizens.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at the TIFT War Room in his official residence, the Chief Minister assessed the progress of various projects under the Urban Development Department and urban local bodies. He underlined the need for completing projects within stipulated timelines, ensuring quality work, and maintaining assets through regular monitoring after completion.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Urban Development Secretary Milind Ramteke, Finance Secretary Apurba Roy, and Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saju Wahid A, attended the meeting and presented updates on ongoing initiatives.
The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite projects under the Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority (TUDA), complete the Agartala Jackson Gate project, and fast-track the Lighthouse project at the Akhaura border. He also stressed the urgent completion of the city hospital to ensure improved healthcare services.
Highlighting urban safety and modernization, Dr. Saha instructed authorities to accelerate the installation of CCTV cameras across urban areas and to install railings along footpaths to enhance pedestrian safety. He also emphasized the development of the Gomati riverfront in Udaipur, proper maintenance of pump houses, and construction of new facilities if required.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the near completion of pink toilets in 20 urban areas and called for continued efforts under the Swachh Bharat Mission. He also directed improvements in heritage sites such as Vivekananda Byayamagar on Gangail Road and infrastructure development at Shantipara.
Emphasizing environmental sustainability, Dr. Saha urged officials to explore proper disposal or recycling of idols after festivals and ensure regular solid waste management and door-to-door garbage collection.
“Timely execution and quality work in welfare projects will reinforce public confidence in governance,” the Chief Minister said, reiterating the government’s commitment to building modern, citizen-centric urban infrastructure across Tripura. FD SB
