Agartala, Sept 11 (FD) Two police personnel including Police in-charge of Takarjala police station were injured, when a team of police tried to pacify two warrior groups of ruling BJP and opposition Tipra Motha activists at Takarjala-Jampuijala road in Sepahijala district.
Trouble started when a group of Tipra Motha supporters and activists attack BJP supporters after a public meeting addressed by BJP state president, Rajeev Bhattacharjee, at the Bukrui community hall in Jampuijala.
Tipra Motha supporters reportedly blockaded the Takarjala-Jampuijala road in an attempt to prevent BJP workers from attending the meeting. Despite these efforts, a substantial number of BJP workers and leaders managed to reach the community hall, where Rajib Bhattacharjee and Sepahijala BJP leader Gouranga Bhowmik addressed the attendees.
However, tensions flared up after the successful meeting as 'Tipra Motha' workers pursued and confronted the BJP supporters, leading to a clash. The situation escalated to the point of stone-pelting, resulting in damage to two scooty’s and three motorbikes. Law enforcement officers, including police and TSR jawans, intervened to quell the violence, sustaining minor injuries in the process.
At the end of the incident a fresh trouble begin, when 'Tipra Motha' MLA of Takarjala, Biswajit Koloi, accused BJP leaders and supporters of provoking the incident without presenting concrete evidence.
In contrast, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee condemned the violence, holding 'Tipra Motha' workers and supporters responsible for the clashes. He emphasized that every political party has the right to organize events in the Takarjala-Jampuijala region, vowing that the BJP would continue its organizational programmes there.
Rajib Bhattacharjee also called for decisive police action to prevent such disturbances in the future, highlighting the need to maintain peace in the region. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the political tensions brewing in Tripura, with both sides blaming each other for the violence. Authorities are preparing to make arrests based on the identified culprits involved in the clash. FD JK
