Three children drowned in Khowai river, CM pays condolences

Agartala, May 21 (FD) In a tragic incident, three children drowned in Khowai river while taking bath at Paharmura Bridge area in Khowai district on Sunday morning, police official said.

The victims were identified as Mautusi Das (12), Ankush Nama (7), and Khushi Roy (10), who were cousins.

Among the three children, one was from Bishalgarh and another from Teliamura and the rest is from khowai it-self, the two cousins came to their grandfather’s house to enjoy their summer vacation.

According to the police official, the children had gone to the river accompanied by their grandfather. Unfortunately, while enjoying their time in the water, the three youngsters drowned.

Later, with the help of local people and members of emergency services the bodies of the three children were recovered from the river. The bodies were rushed to a local hospital where the attending doctor declared them brought dead. Later, the bodies were handed over to the family members after postmortem.

Following the tragic incident, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed his condolences to the bereaved families in a social media post.

He wrote, "My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Praying to God to give the bereaved families strength to bear the pain."

Dr. Saha also took the opportunity to appeal to the public and parents to exercise extra caution when supervising children to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future. FD PD JK
