Agartalam Apr 20 (FD) On April 19, 2025, three Bangladeshi nationals — one woman and two young men — were detained at Agartala Railway Station based on confidential intelligence. The trio allegedly entered India illegally from Bangladesh and intended to travel to other states by train.
According to police sources, the detained individuals were identified as Kamrun Nesa (23) from Dhaka, Ismail Hossain (22), and Nur Hossain (25), both from Chattogram. All three are suspected to be part of a human trafficking or illegal immigration network, possibly functioning as brokers.
The operation was a coordinated effort involving the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and intelligence agencies. Preliminary interrogation revealed that Kamrun Nesa planned to travel to Bengaluru via Kolkata, while the two men aimed to reach Chennai through the same route.
The accused are currently under intensive interrogation at the Agartala GRP station. Authorities suspect that more individuals may be connected to this case and further arrests could follow. Investigators believe that valuable information about the network facilitating illegal cross-border movement may emerge from the ongoing questioning.
A formal case has been registered at the Agartala GRP police station, and the arrested individuals are scheduled to be presented before the court today. Security agencies remain alert to crack down on similar cases in the future. FD SB
