Agartala, Oct 29 (FD) A massive income tax raids in the houses of four contractors in the capital city has uncovered massive tax evasion and potential illicit business links.
The search operations were carried out in the offices and residences of four prominent Agartala based contractors on Saturday morning. According to a Income Tax sources, the raids began at 6 am on Saturday last and continued for than five hours as income tax officials dig deeper into the suspected tax evasion schemes.
According to the sources, the raids was assisted by Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel and the search team has been meticulously examinined documents and financial records to determine the extent of the alleged tax fraud related to border fencing and other contract work.
According to the sources, the preliminary findings suggest a significant amount of tax evasion, indicating a deliberate attempt to evade rightful tax obligations. Additionally, documents related to other business activities have also been discovered during the raids, raising concerns about potential illegal practices. While the income tax department has not disclosed specific details about the findings, further investigations are expected to shed light on the scale and magnitude of the alleged tax evasion and any potential connections to unlawful activities.
The sources said, the four contractors involved in this case are well-known figures in Agartala. These income tax raids serve as a stern warning to individuals and drugs and other business activities engaging in fraudulent practices, highlighting the government's commitment to enforcing tax compliance. This type of search operation is conducted after a long time in the state of Tripura. The Income tax sources said all the four contractors were house arrested.
