TET-qualified job seekers detained ahead of planned protest in Agartala

Agartala, Aug 29 (FD) Police detained a group of TET-qualified job seekers near Town Hall on Saturday as they gathered for a planned protest demanding recruitment and employment.

The candidates had announced a programme to lay siege to the Chief Minister’s residence to draw the state government’s attention to their long-pending demand for recruitment. However, before the proposed protest could begin, police intervened and detained the job seekers, taking them to a police station. The incident created tension in the area.

The candidates said they had been waiting for recruitment opportunities for a considerable period despite possessing the required qualifications. They alleged that the authorities had given them repeated assurances, but no permanent solution to their demands had yet been reached.

The job seekers maintained that their intention was not to create any disturbance or disrupt public order but to press the government to expedite the recruitment process and provide employment opportunities to eligible TET-qualified candidates.

The police action sparked resentment among the protesters, who questioned the detention while reiterating their demand for immediate recruitment.

The candidates said they would continue their democratic movement for employment and are now awaiting a concrete response from the state government regarding the recruitment of eligible TET-qualified job seekers. FD JK
