Table Tennis: Manav Thakkar bows out of WTT Star Contender event after losing to France’s Thibault Poret

In Table Tennis, India’s top-ranked Manav Thakkar bowed out of WTT Star Contender event after losing to unseeded Frenchmen Thibault Poret 1-3 (10-12, 9-11, 11-7, 7-11 ) in the Men’s Semifinals in Chennai today. In the Men’s final today, Thibault Poret will face South Korea’s Oh Jun-sung who defeated France’s Flavien Coton 3-0 in the other semifinals.

Yesterday, Manav became first Indian to reach the semifinals of a WTT Star Contender event after a win over South Korea’s Lim Jong-hoon in Chennai.

The Women’s Singles final will be an all-Japan contest with Miwa Harimoto taking on Honoka Hashimoto this evening. Miwa Harimoto defeated Shin Yu-bin of South Korea 3-0 (11-8, 11-4, 12-10) while Honoka Hashimoto overpowered Kim Nayeong of South Korea 3-0 (11-6, 11-2, 11-2).
