Suspected Drug Peddler Held with Heroin, Yaba Worth Rs 10 Lakh Near Agartala

Agartala, Aug 26 (FD) Tripura Police arrested a suspected drug peddler and seized heroin and yaba tablets with an estimated black-market value of around Rs 10 lakh during an anti-narcotics operation at Charipara, a border village on the outskirts of Agartala, officials said.

The operation was carried out by Amtali Police with assistance from the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and the Border Security Force (BSF), following specific intelligence inputs, Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Police Station Rana Chatterjee said.

Police recovered around 20 grams of heroin and several yaba tablets from the possession of the accused. Four mobile phones were also seized during the operation.

According to police, the seized narcotics are estimated to be worth around Rs 10 lakh in the illicit market.

Chatterjee said the arrested person would be produced before a court, where police would seek custody for further interrogation and investigation.

The investigation will focus on identifying other persons allegedly associated with the narcotics network and determining whether the accused has links to a larger drug trafficking syndicate operating along the border.

Police suspect that the arrested person may have been involved in supplying narcotics in and around Agartala.

The Amtali Police said the investigation was continuing, and further arrests could follow based on information obtained during the probe. FD JK
