Agartala, Apr 7 (FD) In a startling incident early Monday morning, a drone fitted with a camera was discovered in a paddy field at Bolla Mukh, a village under the Belonia Sub-division of South Tripura, raising fresh concerns over cross-border surveillance. The village lies close to the Indo-Bangladesh border, which stretches over 856 kilometers.
The drone was first spotted by a local farmer, Gopal Pal, around 7 AM while he was working in the field. He informed the landowner, Sadhan Majumder, who immediately contacted the Tripura Police.
"There have been sightings of similar drones in recent days. Given the proximity to the border, we suspect it may have come from across the fence," Majumder told reporters.
Personnel from the Tripura Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) swiftly reached the spot and took the drone into custody. The drone was found roughly 300 meters from the barbed wire fence on Indian territory. Experts have been called in to examine the drone's origin and purpose, with suspicions pointing to espionage or other illegal cross-border activities.
