Subal Bhaumick likely to join BJP soon

Agartala, Jan 23 (FD) By all likelyhood, Subal Bhaumick, the former BJP Vice-president, who later joined Congress before the general elections and then to TMC is returning Home.

Sources close to Bhaumick said he is in touch with the central BJP leadership and he is likely to join BJP on Tuesday and also likely to get a party ticket from the Banamalipur constituency, where he is a voter.

There is also a clear signal that he may be nominated as BJP candidate for the Banamalipur (No-9) assembly constituency and Bhaumick had a threadbare discussion with the central leadership on this aspect.

He joined the Trinamool in the late nineties but then returned to Congress and became MLA from Sonamura in 2008. Having lost the assembly election in 2013 he had shaped his own party the ‘Tripura Gramin Vikash Congress’ and merged it with BJP where he had developed differences with former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb after being defeated from the assembly election once again from Sonamura in 2018.

However, the political analysts say that getting a ticket from Banamalipur constituency would be difficult as there are number of contenders including BJP state president Rajiv Bhattacharjee and Niti Deb, wife of deposed chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb. FD JK
