Agartala, May 5 (FD) A high-level administrative review meeting at the state secretariat underscored the need for constant vigilance and proactive governance to address public concerns efficiently. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, who emphasized that the government must remain fully committed to serving the people through active and responsive departmental functioning.
Held at the Secretariat’s Conference Hall under the Task Monitoring System (TMS), the session witnessed participation from District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from all eight districts via virtual mode. Senior officials from key departments were also present to assess the progress of welfare schemes and administrative initiatives.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister delivered a clear message that governance should not rely on information from media reports alone. Instead, departments must stay fully informed about their respective responsibilities and ensure prompt resolution of public grievances. He reiterated that this administration is fundamentally people-centric, requiring continuous alertness and efficiency from every level of governance.
Special emphasis was placed on improving traffic management and maintaining law and order across the state. The Chief Minister directed authorities to take immediate and effective steps to reduce congestion, particularly in Agartala city and district headquarters. Monitoring of overloaded vehicles and ensuring uninterrupted functioning of electronic traffic signals were highlighted as key priorities. Officials were also instructed to expedite the construction of new motor stands.
Addressing the ongoing fight against drug abuse, the Chief Minister called for strict vigilance to prevent the entry of narcotics through railway routes. Police authorities were instructed to intensify surveillance, especially in vulnerable areas, and increase night patrolling. The review extended to public health and education sectors, with particular focus on the situation in Dhalai district. Preventive measures against seasonal diseases like diarrhoea and dysentery were discussed, especially with the onset of the monsoon. The Chief Minister also reviewed the management of generic medicines at IGM Hospital and directed officials to promptly address minor issues in healthcare facilities.

Officials reported that 99 percent of the infrastructure damaged by recent storms has already been restored. Additionally, strict instructions were issued to ensure timely disbursement of wages under rural employment schemes and payments to daily wage workers.
