Agartala, Apr 5 (FD) Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has instructed all district administrations to strictly enforce the Land Revenue Act along with associated rules and regulations, emphasizing that no violations will be tolerated under any circumstances. He issued this directive while chairing a State Level Advisory Committee meeting to evaluate proposals related to the diversion of water bodies and the sale or transfer of allotted land.
The meeting, attended by key officials including Brijesh Pandey, Secretary of the Revenue and Tribal Welfare Department, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Secretary of the Law Department, and all District Magistrates and Collectors via video conference, considered 149 applications—61 for water body diversion and 88 for the sale of allotted land.
Dr. Saha stressed the importance of maintaining strict vigilance over land transfers, name transfers, and the diversion of agricultural land and water bodies. A sub-divisional level committee, headed by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and comprising officials including the Medical Officer, will be formed to scrutinize land sale applications through a transparent process.
This initiative builds upon decisions taken during the December 4, 2023, advisory meeting, where similar directives were issued. Since then, significant measures have been taken to reinforce revenue administration, including the approval for recruitment of 254 personnel such as Revenue Inspectors, Tehsildars, Junior Surveyors, Amins, and Muhuris.
To boost transparency, a 14-digit Land Parcel Identification Number is being assigned to every land plot, and information related to registered document inheritance will be made available online. Furthermore, a cyber security audit of 12 major software platforms used by the Revenue Department has been conducted to ensure data protection.
