State govt is working under Modi's direction to improve sports standards in Tripura: CM

Agartala, Dec 15(FD) The state government is working under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's direction to ensure the improvement of sports standards in Tripura, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said on Thursday.
"Several developmental works are being done to improve the standard of sports in the state as per the directives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Dr Saha said while addressing a programme at Panisagar under North Tripura district.
As part of his visit, Dr Saha inaugurated a swimming pool at Panisagar Physical Education College, a 100-bed capacity boys hostel and laid the foundation stone of synthetic athletics turf.
He also participated in the district level sports accessories distribution programme.
Besides, Dr Saha also inaugurated the newly constructed Krishi Vigyan Kendra earlier in the afternoon.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, MLA Binay Bushan Das, MLA Malina Debnath and others.
Addressing the gathering Dr Saha said that the steps have been taken towards development of youth by quality improvement of sports. Development of county as well as state is possible with the development of youths, he added.
“In line with Modi's dream project ‘Khelo India’, the state government launched Khelo Tripura,” he said.
The swimming pool was constructed at a cost of Rs 5.5 crore, and the boys hostel was constructed at a cost of Rs 4.68 crore. FD PD JK
