Agartala, Jan 11 (FD) Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Sinha Roy today said that unless all sections of people, especially the youths do not come forward to build a drug-free society it is not possible for the administration alone.
He said this while augurating the 'Jagruti-2025' program at Rajarshi Hall at Udaipur today. At the event, the Finance Minister said that the youth should be committed to building a drug-free society. If the students of schools, colleges and universities can be made aware of the ill effects of addiction, the society will benefit.
“Moreover, the common people should also be aware of consumer protection. It is to be noted that this Jagruti-2025 program has been started with the aim of building a road safety, consumer protection and drug-free society”, he added.
This program was organized by the Food, Public Procurement and Consumer Affairs and Transport Departments in collaboration with the Higher Education Department of the state government. The first phase of the program was organized today with colleges of South Tripura, Gomti and Sipahijala districts. A mega quiz competition was held on this occasion.
Chief guest at the event, Food and Transport Minister Sushant Chowdhury said that the youth should come forward to create public awareness about consumer protection, road safety and the ill effects of addiction.
Public awareness should be created against addiction. He said that human resources are the best resources. At the event, the Transport Minister expressed the hope that it would be possible to build a drug-free society with the efforts of people from all sections of the society, including the youth. At the event, Cooperatives Minister Shukracharan Noatia said that the quiz competition has been organized as part of the Jagriti program to create public awareness against addiction. Moreover, through this quiz competition, the youth will also be able to become aware of the laws related to consumer protection.
At the event, Tripura High Court Justice Arindam Lodh praised the state government's initiative and said that the society will benefit if college and university students are made aware of the ill effects of addiction and the Consumer Protection Act. FD JK
