Agartala, Jun 09 (FD) In a significant move, the state government has announced the recruitment of 146 individuals for various positions under the Directorate of Land Records and Settlement, falling under the Department of Revenue. Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who is also the cabinet spokesperson, revealed the details during a press conference held this evening.
Among the available positions, there are 6 Assistant Surveyor Officers, 10 Kanongo, 125 Amin, and 5 surveyor posts. The minister clarified that the Assistant Surveyor Officer and Kanongo positions would be filled through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), while the Amin and Surveyor posts would be recruited directly by the Department.
Additionally, during the same press conference, Minister Chowdhury shared another noteworthy decision made in today's cabinet meeting. The government plans to transform the front side of the Ujjayanta Palace into a vibrant weekend tourist hub, aiming to further develop the state's tourism industry centred on the iconic Ujjayanta Palace.
To achieve this, certain areas will be designated as no-entry zones every Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. specifically, the road from Lakshmi Narayan Temple to Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan and the area from the park in front of Ujjayanta Palace to Jackson Gate will be included. The tourism office will enhance the attractiveness of the palace's front area by setting up dhabas, food stalls, selfie points, and even offering boating on the nearby lake.
To entertain visitors, cultural programmes will be organised on both days, with a permanent cultural stage to be constructed in front of the palace. This initiative not only promises increased government revenue but also presents employment opportunities for unemployed youth and artists.
With these developments, the state government is demonstrating its commitment to promoting tourism, generating income, and nurturing cultural vibrancy, all while fostering economic growth in the region. FD SB
