State government identifies 156 schools to be developed into model schools

Agartala, Oct 20 (FD) 156 schools in the state are identified to be developed into model schools under the PM Shree scheme, Education minister Ratan Lal Nath has said.
Two schools will be identified from each of the 58 blocks and 20 local urban bodies in the state, he told reporters in a press conference held at the secretariat on Wednesday.
The overall budget set by the central government for completing this scheme is 27 thousand and 360 crore rupees, the Education Minister said adding, altogether 14500 schools from all over the country are selected for this scheme.
The minister further said that the selected schools will be identified soon and he hopes that this scheme will not only increase the quality of students but also increase the efficiency of the study environment in schools.
Nath also informed that in addition to the 17 existing schools, 36 more schools in the state will add Chakma language to their curriculum. Of those 36 schools, 2 are secondary schools, 2 higher secondary schools, 6 preliminary schools and 26 basic education schools.
He said that presently 179 post graduate candidates are offered posts as teachers which consist of 43 teachers in economics departments, 46 in sociology, 41 in psychology and 49 in geography. In under-graduate level of TET-1 256 candidates have been offered jobs, of which 196 candidates have responded to the offer with submission of applications. In PG level, 258 candidates have been offered jobs of which 247 have responded.
He also announced that the 3108 vacant spots in schools and education institutes will be filled through advertisements posted by Teachers recruitment board of Tripura (TRBT). There are 757 vacant spots under TET 1 and 2351 vacant spots for TET 2. Besides these, TRBT has posted advertisements for 60 other vacant posts. FD DM JK
