SPO suspended for violating election code of conduct

Agartala, Apr 5 (FD) A Special Police Officer (SPO) was suspended from service for violation of the election model code of conduct (MCC).
Official sources said, the Superintendent of Police of West Tripura district Dr Kiran Kumar on Friday suspended one Suman Hossain, a SPO, posted in Sidhai police station of Mohanpur block in West Tripura district.
A statement issued by the state election department said he attended a political programme organized by the ruling BJP on March 28 last.
Officials said, a complaint was lodged against Hossain, which was investigated by the ECI and later directed the S. P West to suspend him.
This for the first time a police official was suspended.
SPO is an auxiliary force constituted in 2001 to combat the raging insurgency. FD JK
