Agartala, Sept 10 (FD) Noor Ahmed , a resident of Madhya Rajnagar area in Kurti panchayat was awe struck, when he saw two tiger cubs along with their mother were roaming near their village school.
He was on his way home from Dharmanagar at mid night and took the videos of the tiger family by his mobile phone from his car. He shouted for help, but nobody turned up.
A sense of fear gripped him and during that time he found another grown up tiger to come out from the village school.
Another villager Giasuddin, who stays at Madhya Rajnagar area under Kurti also spotted tigers with their cubs, who took shelter in the midst of thick paddy field.
Fear gripped the villagers. They are haunted by the fright of being attacked by the prowling tigers.
Forest Department officials visited the area, but apparently did not take any measure to drive them off from the area.
Police Chief of the North Tripura district, Bhanupada Chakraborty also visited the area and intensified police patrolling with strong fire arms.
However, Jahirul Haque, a member of Kadamtala panchayat samity said, “This is not new. Every year during the months of August and September some tigers arrive in the Kurti village area and strall around. There is no record of killing any villager so far”.
Forest officials said, these are not tigers as there no stripes on their bodies. “But, we do not rule out the possibility that they are cheetah. We now have to examine the paws of the animals to identify them”. FD JK
