Six Bangladeshi Nationals arrested in Tripura for illegal entry

Agartala, Jul 24 (FD) Altogether six Bangladesh nationals were arrested from two places in Tripura in Indian passport act, security force personnel said Wednesday.

"The two Bangladeshi citizens were arrested after they crossed over the Bangla border at Srinagar in South Tripura district on Tuesday night. The arrest came after the BSF intensified its vigil along the border," said a BSF official on Wednesday.

In separate incident, four suspected Bangladeshis were arrested from Agartala Railway station on Tuesday evening.

Acting on a tip-off, a railway police team laid a trap at Agartala railway station and arrested them.

"Around 7 pm, the team arrested four suspected Bangladesh nationals from the railway station. After preliminary interrogation, the four people revealed they were from Bangladesh and were planning to go to Kolkata in search of jobs. Since they could not show any valid documents to travel to India, all of them were arrested", the Officer-in-Charge (OC), GRP station Agartala, Tapas Dad, told reporters.

They were forwarded to a local court for necessary legal procedures, he said, adding that an inquiry is underway. FD JK
