Agartala, Dec 20 (FD) Six Bangladeshi nationals, including two women, two men and two children were arrested on Indian passport act, from Khowai town, about 50 KM from here on Friday, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a private guest house and arrested them. Police also recovered fake Aadhar, PAN and voter ID cards from their possession. They will be presented before a court tomorrow, police said.
Police said, on preliminary interrogation, it was found that they were from Feni district of Bangladesh and went to Delhi a few months ago in search of jobs and were returning home.
They were identified as Mohammad Kabir (37), Mohammad Mumin (23), Ayesha Khatun (70), Tania Begum (35) and two children accompanying them.
Police said in last five months at least 570 Bangladeshis were arrested for entering into the Indian territory without any valid documents.
Tripura has 856 km long border with the Bangladesh and the total area of the border with India is slightly more than 4000 km.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police arrested one person and recovered 600 bottles of phensidyl, a contraband item, worth Rs.6.5 lakhs from Sonamur in Sipahijala district.
Police said, on the basis of intelligence inputs they stopped a private vehicle and recovered the items. The driver of the vehicle, Selim Mia was arrested. FD JK
