Agartala, Oct 31 (FD) A Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the High Court of Tripura conducted a daylong search at the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) office, a momentous development in the state's history.
During the raid on Monday, the team seized three trunks of papers and documents reportedly linked to the floodlight scam. The operation took place from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and the SIT informed the TCA authorities that the search operation would continue on Tuesday.
This inquiry is a result of claims made by a group connected to a well-known female BJP politician about widespread corruption in TCA.
The High Court judge, Arindam Lodh, formed the SIT after one of the dissident members filed a writ petition in the High Court. TPS Sujit Paul, a police officer with CBI experience, is in charge of the SIT.
The main focus of the investigation is the floodlight installation, where it is alleged that a company was willing to do the work for Rs 1 crore per tower, but TCA officials disbursed Rs 16 crore, embezzling the remaining funds. Other corruption allegations are also under scrutiny.
TCA president Tapan Lodh confirmed his full cooperation with the investigation and pledged to provide all necessary information when requested by the court. FD SB JK
