Agartala, Sep 30 (FD) While 5 days of Durga Puja is a window to celebration and unity, it allows some to indulge in spiritualism and soulful worship of their cherished divinity.
Since the last two years, the spirit of Durga Puja has been rather cold. Vice president of Shibnagar Modern club Shaibal Roy explains that the people of the locality have expressed their desire to celebrate this Durga Puja at a big scale.
He said, “We have chosen our theme to be the Kashi Vishwanath temple, situated on the western bank of the holy Ganga River in Varanasi. Our pandal is the recreation of the temple in the present. Our club has always been worshippers of Lord Shiva. Our locality has a 25 years old established Shiva temple which is maintained religiously by the club members and local people. In 2019 our theme was Badrinath temple. We aim to recreate the 12 Jyotirlinga every year on Durga Puja.”
The club has chosen Sandeep Debnath from Nabadwip, West Bengal as the decorator and sculpture artist from Kolkata. They chose light decorators from the home state itself. Roy said the local artists and decorators are not used to creating such big scale pandals and hence they chose artists from outside.
The club Vice President said that the budget for this years’ Puja is set at 35 lacs. The club has collected the fund from subscriptions of the local people and contribution of club members. They said they allotted the initial amount for subscription based on people’s financial ability and needs. Roy mentions that only 7 lacs is collected from normal people in the locality while the remaining is collected from voluntary donations.
Shib Nagar Modern club is also bringing a special arrangement this year. Kahi Vishwanath temple showcases Ganga Aarti everyday on the banks of River Ganga. The club has hired people from Varanasi to conduct an aarti on the banks of the pond near the Puja pandal. The aarti will be conducted from Chaturthi till Dashami. They aim to bring the serene and spiritual experience of Ganga Aarti to the devotees, this Durga Puja. FD DM
