Agartala, Mar 13 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday said that the different self help groups were doing excellent jobs and their numbers have shot up from 4,000 in 2016 in 2016 to 53,663 at present.
He delivered his lectures as the inaugurator of the programme that ended up as the series of programmes on women’s empowerment on Thursday at the Rabindra Bhavan here and stated that the government was working to empower women.
Saha further pointed out that state government had spent Rs.746.80 crores so far of which Rs.32.67 crores was spent till 2017-18.
Regarding the loan disbursement to the SHGs he said, until 2017-18 only Rs. 4.95 crores were spent, which increased to 14.65 crores recently.
“We have now 91,871 ‘lakhpati didis. Our beloved Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working to create ‘drone didis’ and we are also looking to follow his foot prints”, he said.
Chief Minister said that the council of ministers will implement two schemes for the girl students, which were announced by the BJP’s national president J P Nadda ji in a BJP rally held on March 9 at the Swami Vivekananda Maidan.
Nadda announced that the state would invest Rs, 50,000 in bonds for girl child born in a BPL family which would be matured at her 18 years.
He further explained that initially the government had bought 100 scooters for distribution to the students of TBSE, but later changed the decision to distribute to the students of all boards including TBSE, CBSE, and ICSE to avoid all kinds of discriminations.
He also expressed his concern at the alarming rates of child marriages in the state adding that government has intensified its move to stop the menace. FD JK
