Seven drug peddlers arrested from Kumarghat, drugs and mobile phones seized

Agartala, Sept 6 (FD) In a successful raid against the drug peddlers, Tripura police has arrested seven drug carriers from different hideouts in Kumarghat in Unakoti district, police said.

Based on tip-off from reliable sources, a joint team of the state police and state paramilitary Tripura State Rifles (TSR) arrested seven drug peddlers, who were identified as   Ripon Das, Abdul Zalil, Lipton Das, Anuj Das, Rubel Das, Niranjan Rabidas and Rajiv Debnath.

Police also recovered 223 brown sugar pots and one drugs pouch, one Maruti Sujuki vehicle, 15 mobile phones, three motor bikes and an unspecified amount of cash from their possession.

Kumarghat, once an abode of peace and tranquility has turned into a major corridor for drugs and cattle smuggling. In the last week police seized drugs worth Rs 2.5 crore and arrested three notorious for their active involvement in drug smuggling. FD JK
