Agartala, Mar 23 (FD) Seven Bangladeshi citizens were arrested on Saturday at the Agartala railway station for illegally entering Indian Territory, police said.
The officer-in-charge of the Agartala Railway police station, Tapas De, said, acting on a tip-off, they arrested seven Bangladeshis, including two women, this morning.
He said that when two were women, two others were wearing female dresses, possibly to hide their appearance.
One Bangladeshi and one Indian were arrested at the same rail station yesterday, the police official said.
On preliminary investigation, they revealed that they were attempting to go to Chennai in search of jobs.
“All the eight Bangladeshis were arrested under the Indian Passport Act as they failed to show any valid document. The illegal migrants are using Agartala as a corridor to reach the metropolises of the country for jobs. They enter India with the help of middlemen," De told reporters. FD JK
