Agartala, Sept 17 (FD) The ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign, being observed by BJP-ruled state governments across the country, was marked in Tripura on Thursday with a voluntary blood donation camp at Prajna Bhawan in Agartala.
Former Tripura Chief Minister and BJP MP from West Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb donated blood at the camp. Leaders of the BJP and representatives of several social organisations also participated in the programme and donated blood.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte and other senior officials attended the programme. Saha toured the venue, interacted with blood donors and encouraged them to continue contributing to society through voluntary blood donation.
“Blood donation is the greatest form of donation. Everyone should be conscious of its importance. We have a duty towards the society where we are born and brought up. No other donation is greater than blood donation, as it can save many lives,” Saha said.
The Chief Minister also called for greater public awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and social service, saying such initiatives contribute to the harmonious development of society and complement efforts to protect the environment and sustain life.
“By actively participating in social service through voluntary blood donation and other activities, we can express our respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Saha said.
The programme was organised as part of the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ being observed in Tripura from September 17 to October 17. FD JK
