Security Concerns Threaten Brahmakund Tourism Project at Simna

Agartala, Aug 16 (FD) Work on the Brahmakund Tourism Development Project at Simna has reportedly reached a critical point, with the contractor agency warning that it may suspend construction altogether unless adequate security is provided to its workers.

According to allegations made by the contractor agency, some local leaders are allegedly using intoxicated youths to intimidate, harass and attack employees associated with the project. The agency claimed that the situation has made it increasingly difficult for workers to carry out construction activities safely.

The latest incident reportedly occurred last Friday when a vehicle carrying bricks for the project was allegedly stopped. The occupants were reportedly subjected to verbal abuse, according to the contractor agency.

Following the incident, representatives of the agency reportedly approached the Sundartila Police Outpost and lodged a complaint, seeking police protection and intervention to ensure that construction work could continue without disruption.

The contractor has warned that in the absence of adequate security, it may be compelled to suspend work on the Brahmakund Tourism Development Project.

The agency also alleged that the matter had been brought to the attention of the local MLA on several occasions. However, it claimed that despite repeated requests for intervention, the situation had not improved and the alleged harassment had continued.

The allegations have raised concerns over the safety of workers engaged in a major tourism infrastructure project and the challenges faced by contractors in executing government-backed development works amid alleged local interference.

The contractor agency has urged the police and district administration to take immediate measures to ensure the safety of its employees and prevent further obstruction of construction activities. FD JK
