Security beefed up along border areas in Kanchanpur in North Tripura district

Agartala, Jan 3 (FD) Tripura police has strengthened security along the 48-km long border with Bangladesh in Kanchanpur sub-division of the North Tripura district due to movement of the insurgent groups sheltered in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of the neighbouring country, police said.
Superintendent of police, Avinash Kumar Rai said, “The 48-km long area has border with the Rangamati and the Khagracherri areas in Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh are under watch. We have received information that the insurgents were bivouacking with weapons. So, security was beefed up”, he told reporters.
He said, BSF was alerted and personnel of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) were deployed in the border areas to thwart any attempt of sabotage.
Rai further pointed out that the areas along the border are now totally secured as special operations have been initiated ad the developmental works are going on as usual. FD JK
