Scientific agriculture can ensure self-reliance: Ratanlal Nath

Agartala, May 27 (FD) Tripura Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath emphasized the importance of scientific farming techniques to enhance crop productivity and support farmer self-reliance.
Speaking at the inauguration of a newly constructed two-storied building of the Amarpur Agriculture Subdivision at Kathalbagan, the minister highlighted the state government’s commitment to modern agricultural development. The 19-room office was built at an estimated cost of ₹2.05 crore.
Minister Nath stated that by adopting scientific agricultural practices, farmers can significantly increase their crop yields. To support this, the government is providing various agricultural machinery to farmers at subsidized rates. He also laid the foundation stones for a medium market shed and a rural market shed in Natunbazar, with estimated costs of ₹2.36 crore and ₹2.20 crore respectively.
The new agricultural office will serve as a hub for farmer assistance, offering training, expert advice, and technical support. Specialists will visit farmlands to guide farmers on crop selection, fertilizer usage, and pest control.
Additionally, the government is constructing a concrete market shed at Dalak market to enhance selling facilities for farmers. The event saw participation from local dignitaries, including MLA Ranjit Das and officials from various local bodies. FD SB
