Science conclave under India’s G20 presidency began in Tripura

Agartala, April 3 (FD) Science-20 conferences under India’s G20 presidency began here at the International Indoor Exhibition Hall on Monday, where more than 60 delegates including 23 from foreign countries have joined.
The conclave titled ‘Clean Energy for Greener future’ as part of the G20 meetings aimed at immediate action to save the future.
Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, Mr. Ajay Sood in his introductory address said, that three sub-themes will be discussed in the conference, namely, the one about the green hydrogen that has been catching the attention of countries the world over.
In his opening remarks he quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi where he said that innovation is important not just for combating climate change, but also for climate justice.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, in the sideline of the conclave told reporters that plentiful availability of raw bamboo gives the state a strategic advantage to explore possibilities of “green hydrogen” production adding that the central government has already allocated Rs 10,000 crore for green hydrogen energy production as an alternative to traditional power.
Saha said, the discussion of use of alternative and clean energy will help the state would help use of bamboo for the production of green hydrogen power.
Chief Minister said, Tripura has laid emphasis on use of solar energy adding that 18 solar microgrids have directly benefited 2,500 rural households and 274 such solar micro grids are in the pipeline.
He also said that this conclave will prepare a framework to facilitate ground-breaking research in environmentally responsible technology. FD JK
