Agartala, Oct 31 (FD) The SC Welfare Minister Bhagaban Chandra Das has laid foundation stones for 100 seated girls’ hostel at Rangamati Higher Secondary School under Amarpur subdivision and 50 bedded girls' hostels in Sabroom on Sunday.
Addressing the programme at Amarpur, the SC Welfare Minister said that the students below poverty line and from remote areas of the subdivision will have easier access to education.
According to Das, the state government will build a 50 seated girls' hostels in Kumarghat soon, while the construction of 5 other hostels was already started before that. Among those, a hostel has been inaugurated in Agartala recently.
SC welfare minister further stated that the government has taken various steps for the welfare of SC community which includes providing financial assistance to merit students belonging to SC community, loans provided by SC Corporation to large number of people in SC community to help them become self reliant through buying them vehicles, auto rickshaws, loans for business purposes etc.
Das also said ducklings, chicks, baby goats and piglets are distributed under various schemes of ARDD in order to ensure socio economic development in rural areas. He added that veterinary mobile vans will commence their service next month to help the animal rearers.

25 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhudyay Yojana were given baby goats and 25 other beneficiaries under the same scheme were given piglets along with feed and necessary medicines.
Rangamati Panchayat Pradhan Bulti Das Majumder presided over the program. The welcome speech was delivered by Joint Director of SC welfare department Tokhirai Debbarma. Among other dignitaries present at the program were Amarpur nagar panchayat chairperson Bikash Saha, vice chairperson of Amarpur panchayat committee Shankarananda Saha and SDM Asit Kumar Das. FD DM
