Agartala, Sept 17 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday appealed to candidates raising demands over recruitment and the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) to refrain from agitation, saying the state government was closely monitoring the issues and would ensure that eligible candidates receive what is due to them.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a blood donation camp at Prajna Bhavan in Agartala, organised as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, Saha said recruitment-related issues did not warrant protests. On the second phase of recruitment, he said the state government would implement any directive received from the Centre.
“I think they should refrain from agitation as my department has already issued instructions regarding TET. My department and our government have been keeping a close watch on this, and they will get what is due to them,” he said.
Saha said the government had created more than 21,000 to 22,000 jobs during its tenure, with the education sector accounting for a significant share. He said the government also had to balance fresh recruitment with its financial obligations towards existing employees and pensioners, including payment of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR).
“We are depending on the Centre. We have financial constraints and are continuing to meet these responsibilities,” Saha said, adding that outsourcing and contractual appointments were also part of the government’s employment framework.
On matters involving the Supreme Court and the High Court, Saha said the issue had originated from the High Court and that the government would examine the details before taking a decision. He said officials of the Law Department had been asked to provide complete information instead of merely submitting documents.
Meanwhile, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17, Saha said the day was being observed as Seva Diwas as part of programmes marking Modi’s 25 years of public service as a constitutional leader.
He said programmes were being organised across districts, subdivisions, blocks and panchayats. At the state level, a blood donation camp was held at the district headquarters, with around 200 people expected to donate blood.
Saha said Ashirbad Cards would be distributed at designated locations at 7 pm, along with the lighting of diyas. Subject to the Model Code of Conduct, he added, the remaining mega-event programmes would be organised from September 18 to October 17.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the people of Tripura to extend their blessings and good wishes to the Prime Minister. FD JK
