Roof Collapse at Dominican Nightclub Kills 113, Injures 150

A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of yesterday when the roof of the popular Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, suddenly collapsed, killing at least 113 people and injuring over 150. The venue was hosting a live concert by celebrated merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who was also confirmed dead in the disaster.

Among the victims was Octavio Dotel, a former Major League Baseball pitcher and provincial governor, adding to the gravity of the national tragedy. Authorities reported that hundreds of people were packed inside the venue when the roof gave way, causing chaos and panic.

Emergency response teams, including over 400 rescuers, have been working around the clock to search for survivors and recover bodies from the rubble. Many are still feared trapped, and officials warned that the death toll may rise as rescue efforts continue.

Witnesses described the horrifying moment the structure came down mid-performance, causing a stampede as people rushed to escape. Families of victims have gathered outside the site, awaiting news of their loved ones.
