Roads in front of Ujjayanta Palace may declare ‘No Vehicle Zone’ for convenience of tourists

Agartala, May 13 (FD) In order to facilitate free movement of tourists, Tripura government is planning to declare the road in front of Ujjayanta Palace as ‘No Vehicle Zone’ for two days in a week, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has said on Friday.
If the restriction comes into effect, the ‘No Vehicle Zone’ will be enforced from the main gate of State Museum (Ujjayanta Palace) to Sherawali sweet-shop near Laxminarayan Bari Road to Rabindra Satabharsikhi Bhawan Chaumuhani and Maharani Tulsibati School Road for the convenience of tourists and visitors.
“The restriction on vehicular movement will be enforced every Saturday and Sunday from 4 pm to 9 pm as a large number of people gathers in front of the palace to enjoy the evening on these two days,” Chowdhury said after a high level meeting with the senior officials of the administration in his office room at the Secretariat on Friday.
He said, apart from this, various plans have also been taken by the tourism department for the major development of the tourist hub at that place.
Agartala Municipal Commissioner, Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Tripura Government Tourism Department Secretary, Uttam Kumar Chakma, Tripura Police Inspector General (Law and Order) Soumitra Dhar, Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited Managing Director Tapan Kumar Das, Information and Culture Department Director Bimbisar Bhattacharya, West District Additional District Magistrate Rajeev Dutta, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sadar Division Arup Deb and other officials were present in the meeting.
