Road mishap claims life of AIDS activist in Unakoti district

Agartala, April 29 (FD) A 35-year old NGO activist, who worked in the front of AIDS, has died and his companion received serious injuries following a road accident at Kaulikara village under Kailashahar sub-division in Unakoti district, police said today.
The accident occurred yesterday when Gyan Ranjan Chakma (35) along with another person as his pillion rider was returning to Pencharthal by a bike, it collided with a JCB machine and both of them were seriously injured.
When the villagers rushed to the spot and took them to the Kailashahar hospital, doctor declared Gyan Ranjan brought dead and condition of Arup Chakma (34), the pillion rider was seriously wounded and fighting for life.
A state of deep grief has descended in Pencharthal area after the news reached there. Gyan Ranjan was a serious NGO worker, who helped many people specially who was affected by AIDS. FD JK
