Revised set of MPLADS guidelines 2023 came into effect & several new provisions have been added: Centre

The Centre today said the MP-LAD (Members of Parliament Local Area Development) scheme remained suspended from 6 April 2020 to 9 November 2021, due to the Covid pandemic and no funds were allocated for the Financial Year 2020-21 under this scheme.
In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Rao Inderjit Singh informed that the revised set of MPLADS guidelines 2023 came into effect from 01.04.2023 and several new provisions have been added. He said MPs send their recommendations of development works directly to District Authorities and the same are implemented by the District Authorities in accordance with the administrative and financial rules of the concerned State Governments.
The Minister said during the financial year 2021-22 only 2 crore rupees were released instead of five crore rupees. He said that elected MPs can also recommend work of ₹ 50 Lakh rupees in a Financial Year for of Constituency or state, except in case of a calamity. Mr. Singh said that works once recommended by the MP cannot be changed by the successor MP, even if the same person gets re-elected from that constituency, or on re-nomination chooses the same district as his nodal district
