Agartala, Aug 11 (FD) In a developing controversy, the resignation of Shivraj Reang, the vice president of 'Motha' in the Chhawmanu area of Dhalai district, has sent ripples through Tripura's political landscape.
The resignation comes as a protest against the stance of the 'Tipra Motha' party, which opposes the recognition of the 'Kaibru' language as a separate entity.
In a resignation letter addressed to the party president in Chhawmanu, Shivraj Reang expressed his objection to the stance taken by 'Tipra Motha' in the state assembly.
He lamented that the opposition's stand indirectly hindered the recognition of the 'Kaibru' language, a cause he believed in passionately.
Reang emphasised his commitment to the linguistic and cultural diversity of Tripura, asserting that such diversity should not impede the recognition of 'Kaibru' as a distinctive language.
He decried the leader of the opposition, Animesh Debbarma's, role in the matter, terming it "disheartening". Reang concluded his letter by expressing his resignation with a heavy heart, compelled by the circumstances at hand.
This resignation further deepens the divide within 'Motha', shedding light on the complex interplay between language, culture, and politics in the region. FD SB JK
