Republican Party of India threatens to block NH-8 if demands are not met

Agartala, Aug 22: Republican Party of India (Athawale), a new entrant in Tripura’s politics has threatened to block the Assam-Agartala national highway (NH8) for indefinite period if their 44 chartered-off demands are not addressed within the next 12 days.
The major demands included good governance and providing better amenities to people, solving the unemployment problem and repairing of damaged roads etc.
Announcing the decision in a press conference held at Agartala press club, the party’s North East Observer, Vinod Nikalje said the party would participate in the upcoming TTAADC village council elections and the party members will intensify organizational activities at the village level.
The party State president Satyajit Das, Executive president Ananta Debbarma, vice president Dr Swapan Deb, General Secretary Jiten Debbarma, Special political Advisor Asfak Patel and other leaders were present in the press conference.
