Renowned literary figure Shyamal Chowdhury is no more

Agartala, Mar 24 (FD) Shyamal Chowdhury, the esteemed recipient of the "Muktijudda Maitri Sammanna" State Award from the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, breathed his last at the ILS Hospital in Agartala this morning. Survived by his wife and Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, he leaves behind a legacy cherished by many.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, acknowledging Chowdhury's significant contributions to literature.
A former participant in the Bengali language movement and a dedicated activist for land rights, Chowdhury transitioned from political engagements to focus on writing and social initiatives. His involvement in relief efforts during the Bangladesh Liberation War exemplified his commitment to humanitarian causes. Recognized for his literary prowess, Chowdhury's impact on education and cultural development earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Liberation War Friendship Award.
