Ration card holders of the state to get new PVC ration cards

Agartala, April 11 (FD) The ration card holders in Tripura are all set to get new ration cards as the Tripura government has decided to replace the present paper made cards with new polyvinyl chloride (PVC) ones, according to officials.
The Additional Secretary, Sumit Lodh, who looks after the Food and Civil supplies department told reporters, that they decided to introduce PVC ration cards and already placed orders for printing of such four lakh cards.
He further said that the deadline for completing the Know your Customer (KYC) process was extended from March 31 to April 30.
The official further said that the families listed in their paper ration cards must visit their respective fair price shops to complete the KYC.
Lodh said that those who have already made their KYC will receive the cards soon and all the ration card holders, not only the persons who live under Municipal Corporation but ration card holders of all subdivision will receive their new cards in phased manner.
He said his department has requested the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to prepare a plan for distribution of the cards to them, who are residing outside of the state and enroll their KYC. FD JK
