Agartala, May 14 (FD) An insurgent turned politician and presently an MLA of ruling Tipra Motha, Ranjit Debbarma on Wednesday demanded to the state government and the authorities of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) to launch a mission mode operation to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshis, who are residing in the state illegally.
He said the large scale entry of the Bangladeshis and Rohingyas and subsequently settling down in parts of Sonamura in Sipahijala district, Kamalpur in Dhalai district, Kailashahar in Unakoti district and Dharmanagar in North Tripura district are posing a threat to the livelihood and other problems for the locals.
“They are occupying government lands illegally, mainly in the reserve forest areas and settling there. They can easily manage Adhaar cards PAN cards and ration cards by forging documents with the help of a group of touts”, he told a press conference here today.
Expressing his caution, Debbarma said, even they are putting their children to the Indian Madrassas.
“They are now settling down mainly in the tribal council areas and posing a threat to the people of the state, mainly the tribals. They have emerged as a potential threat to the national security”, he added.
Debbarma said, they should be first identified, detained and then pushed back to the Bangladesh.
“What Gujrat, Delhi and Assam have done is appreciable. I had brought the matter to the knowledge of the union home Minister Amit Shah, but so far nothing has been done so far”, he said. FD JK
