Rain creates havoc in Tripura, 450 houses collapsed and large part of Agartala inundated

Agartala, April 22 (FD) At least 450 houses were damaged, 49 electric poles uprooted and large part of the Agartala city was inundated as heavy rains and thunderstorms lashed the state, officials said on Tuesday.
Officials said, two persons were injured at Karbook in Gomati district as their houses collapsed and were shifted to a local hospital for treatment. They were identified as Rumati Tripura (39) and Nayan Kumar Tripura (70).
A large part of the Agartala city was inundates and the Mayor of the city Dipak Kumar Majumder today visited the places.
Majumder said, “We are trying to pump out the water deposited in Banamalipur and adjoining areas. The works for making covered drain is also going on. Hope the drains will be completed within a month. We are alert about managing the flood situation in the city”.
Officials said that the heavy rains and storms occurred last night, which created havoc.
However, water is flowing below the danger level in all the major rivers in the state including Gomati, Howrah, Muhuri and Feni. FD JK
