Kailashahar, Mar 4 (FD) A railway line from Dharmanagar to Kailashahar will be constructed soon, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced while addressing a gathering at Chandipur Block Office premises on Tuesday, March 4, in the evening. The Chief Minister visited Kailashahar to inaugurate 17 projects of various state government departments and lay the foundation stone for 18 more projects.
The main event took place at Chandipur R.D. Block premises, where the Chief Minister first laid the foundation stone for a 50-bed de-addiction center and the District Social Education Inspector’s Office. He was accompanied by Chandipur MLA and Minister of State Government Tinku Roy, TIDC Chairman Nabadal Banik, State Waqf Board Chairman Moboswar Ali, Social Welfare Department Director Tapan Kumar Das, Unakoti District Magistrate Dilip Kumar Chakma, and Superintendent of Police Kanta Jangir. The event was presided over by Unakoti Zilla Parishad President Amolendu Das. The inauguration ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
District Magistrate Dilip Kumar Chakma said that this day is historic for Unakoti district and Kailashahar. Several projects under different departments in the Kailashahar sub-division were inaugurated and foundation stones were laid. These projects focus on the development of education, health, and roads, which will contribute to building a prosperous society. A total of ₹24 crore worth of projects were inaugurated, while projects worth ₹143 crore had their foundation stones laid. The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for the projects digitally.
After the welcome speech, the Chief Minister handed over a ₹9 lakh compensation cheque to Ruma Pal, the wife of tea garden worker Ram Joy Pal, who had passed away last year while working at the Manu Valley tea estate factory. The cheque was provided by the factory authorities under the Factory and Boiler Act. Following this, TRLM groups presented various handcrafted items to the dignitaries.
During his speech, the Chief Minister said that this was a moment of joy for the people of Kailashahar, as projects worth ₹162 crore were being inaugurated and initiated. He also mentioned that the artificial limb manufacturing center, whose foundation stone was laid recently in Bishalgarh, is the first of its kind in the Northeast region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is focused on the development of the Northeast.
Addressing the opposition’s criticism that development is not visible, he recalled how they had demanded proof when the Prime Minister conducted airstrikes and surgical strikes. He invited the opposition to attend the inauguration ceremonies to witness the development firsthand. The Prime Minister had promised the "HIRA" model for development, which is now being implemented. After Mumbai and Chennai, Tripura now has an advanced internet service. Agartala Airport is the most beautiful airport in the Northeast, and after the current government came to power, it was renamed after the Maharaja.
He further stated that any request made to the Prime Minister or the Home Minister is promptly addressed. A new road will be constructed connecting Kamalpur, Ambassa, Gandacherra, and Santirbazar. He emphasized the importance of peace and harmony for development. Previously, it took 10 to 12 hours to travel from Agartala with security escorts, but now peace has been restored in the Northeast, attracting investors to the state. Tripura ranks third in the country in terms of law and order. All districts of Tripura are undergoing development, and Unakoti will see further advancements in the coming days. Many national highways have been constructed, making transportation easier and boosting trade opportunities.
The Chief Minister mentioned that while traveling by train to Kailashahar, he crossed a freight train. Now, essential goods like onions and potatoes are easily transported to Tripura. He also discussed the need for an alternative railway line via Kailashahar with the Railway Minister. The Railway Minister assured him that, while it would take time, the first step would be constructing a railway line from Dharmanagar to Kailashahar. This announcement has brought joy and excitement to the people of Kailashahar.
Several projects were inaugurated and foundation stones were laid, including:
Newly constructed government offices: District Magistrate’s Office, Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office, and District Transport Office.
Educational institutions: Ramkamal Higher Secondary School building, Ramakrishna Educational Institute’s two-story building, and Bhagini Nivedita Higher Secondary School building.
Infrastructure projects: Three revenue offices (tehsils), a two-story building for Chandipur Block, market stalls in Pancham Nagar, a 50-bed district training center, and a drinking water source in Kalai Giri village of Heera Chara ADC. In total, 34 projects were inaugurated.
At the end of the event, the Chief Minister visited the Chandipur Block Office and inspected the newly constructed first floor of the office. FD JK
