Protem speaker elected in Tripura

Agartala, March 15(FD) Governor of Tripura, Satyadeo Naryan Arya today administered the oath of office and secrecy to the BJP MLA from Panisagar (SC) assembly constituency Benoy Bhusan Das as  Protem speaker of the assembly in a simple ceremony in the ‘Durbar Hall’ of Raj Bhawan.

 He will remain in the post until a new full-fledged speaker is elected or selected by the new assembly scheduled to meet in the first session on March 24.

Apart from this, the newly elected MLAs of the assembly will be sworn in as members on March 16 and 17. Altogether 32 MLAs (excluding Pratima Bhowmik) of BJP-31 and IPFT-1 will be sworn in together tomorrow in the conference hall of the state assembly. The 13 ‘Tipra Motha’ MLAs who expressed their inconvenience to be sworn in on 16th will be administered the oath of office as MLAs on March 17.
