Agartala, Nov 11 (FD) The industry starved Tripura is trying to woo the industrialists for investment in the state with a lucrative offer of subsidy.
Addressing the inaugural programme of the project 'Unnati-2024', Chief Minister said, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry considering Tripura under Zone-B will provide maximum subsidy to industrial units in Tripura, which will enable our locally manufactured products to compete with foreign manufactured products.
He also said that foreign investors are encouraged to set up industries in the state.
The project 'Unnati-2024' will play an important role in the industrialization and economic growth of various states of North Eastern region including our state, he said.
The workshop was organized under the initiative of the Department of Industries and Commerce. At the workshop, the Chief Minister said that emphasis has been laid on strengthening the industrial ecosystem in the state. Priority has also been given to encouraging new investments. The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the Department of Industry and Domestic Trade and Development (DPIIT) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Union Government for this.
He also said that the target of creating 83 thousand jobs in the next 10 years has been taken in this project. A budget of Tk 10,37 crore has been earmarked for this, reflecting the government's vision of creating a robust livelihood for the people of the region. A minimum investment of Rs 1 crore in manufacturing sector units under this scheme will be considered eligible for incentives on projects and machinery.
Today's workshop will mainly focused on creating awareness among potential entrepreneurs and investors to avail benefits under 'Unnati-2024', so that our state can get maximum benefit from this scheme.
The Chief Minister said that the registration for 'Unnati-2024'-project started on March 9, 2024 and will continue till March 31, 2026. Timely registration on the portal is mandatory. Registration in our state is slowly increasing, but it needs to be strengthened. Apart from 'Unnati-2024', the Government of Tripura's Department of Industries and Commerce is also implementing the state scheme Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive Scheme (TIPIS), 2024, the Chief Minister said. , through which various subsidies are being provided to industrial units. Both Central and State Governments are taking one of the most important initiatives to encourage local ships through financial incentives to overcome geographical barriers.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has emphasized on the development of the communication system with the mainland through the development of road, rail and air services. Also industrial infrastructure with all modern facilities is being developed in the state. State Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) was set up in the Department of Industry and Commerce to facilitate investment in the state. The 'Ease of Doing Business' is doing very well in the state in setting up industries. The online single window portal is also working well to encourage investors to set up industries. As a result investors are showing keen interest to invest in Tripura using locally available resources like bamboo, rubber, agro-products, agar, hotel, education, health, IT sector etc. The Chief Minister also detailed the state government's vision for the development of the industry in his speech.
Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma said on the occasion that the government is working on plans to take the state forward through the development of industry. Besides, foreign investors are also encouraged to set up industries in the state. As a result of the sincerity of the state government, many small and medium industries have been established in the state. In the event, Secretary of the Department of Industry and Commerce Kiran Githye said that industry plays one of the important roles in the development of the economic condition of a state. Because the GDP of Rajo increases only when the industry develops. Due to the development of industry in the state, the GDP of the state has increased steadily in the last three years.
Director of Industries and Commerce Department Bishwashree B and Director of Industries and Domestic Trade and Development Department of Ministry of Commerce and Industry Karampal Singh also spoke on the occasion. Nabadal Banik, Chairman of Tripura Industry Development Corporation, was present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister unveiled the booklet 'Tripura Industrial Investment Policy, 2024' on the occasion. Several prominent industrialists who have successfully set up industries in the state are also honored. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha handed over certificates to them. FD JK
